When is the best time to hunt Nilgai?

The best time to hunt Nilgai is from late winter to early spring. During this time, male Nilgai compete for mates by engaging in aggressive displays and vocalizations. They establish dominance and defend their territory, allowing them to breed with receptive females. More often than not, the males focus solely on the females and are less aware of their surroundings due to the strong desire to breed. As hunters, we often identify this as "The Rut." Although Nilgai is huntable all year long, the rut typically offers the highest amount of animal movement and opportunity when it comes to hunting Nilgai in Texas.
